Blue, go away, come, yellow

Thursday, July 30, 2009

Ughh. I feel so blue today. The weather is horrible - cold and rainy. Hate Thursdays... My feet are cold and fingers moist. I'm just lying sprawled on my heated bed in a very boneless manner. I'm feeling so empty and tired. I feel blue. Blue, blue, blue. I don't know how many times I sighed on the train just now. It's so dark dark dark. The wood planks are soaked the concrete road flooded. And I was just there walking by, cold, lonely and tired. Blue, blue, blue. Aah... I feel so cut off, and disconnected from everything, yet it feels like this is reality. I can't help but be sad. I need some company.

insomniac

So here's the problem.

Ever since this Monday, I've been waking up at 7:00>AM>6:00. Even when I set my alarm to 9:00AM, or slept at 12:00AM, I STILL wake in those hours. And even worse, today I woke up at 4:00AM, even though I have the time and leisure to sleep in till 9.

Waking up at 4, I was almost immediately led into this odd mix of dream/imagination. I don't know if I was dreaming it all, or imagining everything (all those little scenes??) until 7AM. And I also keep having quite odd dreams nightly. Not that they're nightmares, they're just... weird. They're also not perverted okay. Then again, my dreams often are. (weird, I mean)

So now I'm on wikipedia. It's 8AM. I always thought insomnia is just a difficulty in falling asleep, but apparently it is also the difficulty in maintaining sleep, for instance waking up too early in the morning even when there is an oppoturnity to sleep. Insomnia also lowers a person's performance and I guess that's why I had suuuuuchhh a difficult time trying to focus on David's lesson yesterday. I usually can stand long talks but yesterday I was just fidgeting a lot.

Insomnia can also be caused by clinical depression. Honestly I don't think I'm having clinical depression, just probably too much mood swings every single day and an excessive dose of hyperness. Or maybe, it's due to my current situation. Here let me describe:

Wake up way too early for uni. Does morning routine at twice less the usual speed just to kill time. Go to uni early. Uni. Uni ends. Then I'd be at lost at what to do. If I go home, I would just be facing: no internet, a Chinese girl who's pissed at me, no inDesign to do my projects due next week, a.k.a NOTHING TO DO. So usually I would hang around the computer lab for an hour or so to do some research, open some facebook, do some projects. And then I go home and face all that on the list. Usually I'd be hungry by 6 but dinner doesn't come till 7. So I'd kill time again until dinner, which is usually quite fun. Dinner over and dishes washed at around 7:45. I would go back to my laptop and chat for a bit and later take a shower. After my shower I'd be back on my laptop again, unable to open websites, so just chatting till the time strikes 12.

If you do notice that I've been updating my facebook status, it's because I was using my handphone.

HOWEVER, yesterday my water bottle spilled its contents into my bag, and my ipod, usb, handphone became soaked. Fortunately my usb still worked. My iPod worked except for weird sudden switch ons and a faulty hold switch plus one side of the speaker dead. My phone was going crazy. But later in the night, it became quite tamed, except for the number 5 keypad (JKL) and the Shift key not working. Oh and the selection button too. Oh and let's not forget the backspace button which means once I make an error I have to close everything and re-type. My space button was already dead since months ago. So now in total I have 5 buttons that don't work on my poor yellow little phone. (note: so now if you see me typing in weird symbols, that means I was using my phone to represent J,K or L)

This morning I woke up to an iPod that won't turn on anymore. One dead. Handphone is, fortunately, still working.

Handphone and iPod spoiled I wonder what that meeaaaansss! Yes, guys, I was thinking of iPhone. I've actually been wanting that for quite some time now but never bothered because I was still in love with my yellow phone. But it has grown old and is in frail health... I just don't know. Sigh. Must I really resort to that plain black ol iPhone? Why the heck must it be black?? Don't they know many designers (creative people? hey, it's Apple) looooove the iPhone and they also love colours? iPhone is also rather expensive. :( hmph

Anyway yeah. I don't know if you can tell but I'm trying to kill time right this moment too. It's 8:36 and I plan to do morning stuff at 9. But I have already spent half an hour typing and I don't know how much more I have to say.

I can't believe weekends are coming again!!! Urrghh. If I had internet I'd be still quite okay but I don't. And now that I think about it, why did I like staying indoors so much last time?? Omg. Oh yeah that's right, I was a game and anime addict. Now I just facebook. I can see some people scoff and some smiling. >_>

Oh there are so many events I'm looking forward to over the next few months. I'm also looking forward to Halloween!!! Now that I think about it I should probably spend a bit more days in Melbourne (just a bit) to experience Halloween which just does NOT happen in Indo (lame). Whaddya say, Dad? ;) please? We'll talk.

What it's Really Like

Saturday, July 25, 2009

Basically I shall talk about yesterday. I know, how lame, no I don't care.

So I woke up, did some laundry, and microwaved Indomie (don't ask) - the one with the 'soup'. As I did so, my mom SMS-ed me to thank me and my brother for leaving her a birthday present. That's right, folks, it's my Mom's bday yesterday!

WISH HER A HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
So right before we left Indonesia, I secretly stowed her present in a cabinet nobody opens, and yesterday morning I SMS-ed her panicking about 'a CD I forgot to bring to Melbourne' and where to find it. So yeah!

And since my mind was busy with the SMS, I COMPLETELY forgot that if something just came out a microwave, do not by any means open its plastic cling wrap using your bare fragile hands. Especially if it's got soup. Which was what I did, naturally, I innocently flung the plastic open and this torrent of extremely hot air attacked my poor hand. I squealed (?) shrieked (?) gasped (??) ...or did I just shout? Yeah I think I did. I know, forgive my lack of cuteness =.=

In super reflex, I quickly turned the tap on at max coldness and let my index and middle finger cool there. It was paiiiinnn. My finger was swollen red for the rest of the day and I had to keep applying lotion on it. At times it became so hot, like it's actually burning.

So after that breakfast, I left the house. Went to the city. Stopped by the asian snack store to buy a pack of strawberry Pocky and vanilla Hello Panda. Then I walked to my building, and slumped myself on the seat of the computer lab. And started doing my work.

You ask me why I don't do it at home. Well, I don't have stupid Adobe inDesign and thus circumstances made me travel all the way here. It's complicated.

At 2:00pm, I felt a bit hungry. You notice that I haven't had anything to eat since that horrifying bowl of indomie with the plastic wrap that sort of melted into it. Alas, a sign that said, in big bold letters, "DO NOT EAT IN THE LAB" was right in front of my face. But I could care less because anyway, I was only eating some snacks. It's not gonna smell or dirty anything. I couldn't be bothered to save all my work, go out, get something to eat, then come back again. Too bothersome.

So for lunch all I had was disgusting pocky with sour strawberry flakes (it was so horrible I had to check the expiry date) and Hello Panda, which I didn't finish since my poor stomach was rejecting anything else sweet.

And by 4:00pm, I was dying. My brain was starting to get slow, forming a single paragraph in the amazing time of 20 minutes. I was only 2/3 done. By 5:00pm, fortunately, I could force my brain into that final emission of sentences and then, I was done. Oh how joyous.

I saved all my work, checked, went into the lift. And in the lift there's this mirror and I was just appalled by the sight of myself. My cheeks were both very red, and above my cheeks, below my eyes, was a big black bag. .....It was horrifying beyond words. That's what people who've spent half a day eating nothing but snacks while doing their projects look like. Well, at least, I did.

And forgive me for having no picture to share, since I came home that day to the announcement "the internet's passed its limit". So I am now having slow internet with no hope of opening sites like facebook. Even opening my RMIT e-mail took some time. I HATE MELBOURNE'S INTERNET!!!
So at night all I did was chat and watch the DVD from PICTOPLASMA Characters in Motion 2. My mom called that night and apparently she and Dad was having dinner at that Japanese cuisine restaurant... BASARA!!! OMG!!! I'm so jealous... T.T And also, it appears my Dad sent her flowers early in the morning! Wow that's so unexpected and totally sweet *^_^* my Dad is so youthful at heart~
So what is Vina going to do for the rest of the weekend? Well... definitely be doing my project at home (borrowing Listy's MAC). I am just going to take my own sweet time doing it since I have no internet a.k.a nothing else to do anyway. That's also the reason why this blog post is so long-winded and detailed! ^_^ ehhehe.

And on Sunday what am I going to do? I don't know... I think I shall die of boredom if I stay in. Perhaps shall go bookworming at the library, or maybe visit my bro's apartment to hog his internet.

Message to Susan and Ratna: WHY ARE U GUYS NEVER ONLINE??? Go on MSN and chat with ur overseas friend T.T

“L’Adieu”

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

I just can never hold back my love for classical music. It's like once you get involved with it, it is all you ever yearn for to hear. It is that sweet sound and that beautiful tune and the story behind its composition. Once the sound of anything like Hip Hop reaches your ears it's just like listening to a nightmare.

Of course I once again will be talking about Chopin. Who else. Though I recently found out that "Cavalleria Rusticana - Intermezzo" by Pietro Mascagni is a great masterpiece! But I shall be talking about Chopin, whose every work seems to me like a masterpiece.

Today as usual I listened to Chopin like I do every single day. And it never gets boring. Never. In that, what, 8 minutes of listening, I feel so entranced by the expressive notes and sometimes it makes me so sad listening to it, as if it was truly there. And if I listen to Chopin on the walk to the station in the morning I feel so joyous and light (I'd be listening to something like his Etudes) and the world just seems better.

So what about the story behind the music? For instance, in Chopin's composition Waltz in A-flat, Op. 69, No. 1 “L’Adieu", it is about Chopin's love, Marie. In short, he loved her much but he was never really in good health. Marie and Chopin contacted each other through letters and the few times they meet during his travels to give concerts and lessons. During a holiday trip, Chopin proposed to her and she accepted but Marie's family wanted Chopin to prove himself able to take care of Marie before their marriage would be approved.

However, due to Chopin's frail health through the winter, Marie's family rejected Chopin, and asked Marie to write a letter of rejection to him. When Chopin returned to Paris, he received this letter and wrapped up the bundle of paperwork and labelled it "My Sorrow".

(paraphrased from: chopinproject.com)

This is the song he created and it's called 'L'Adieu' which means farewell. You can hear it by opening this link below, scrolling a bit until you see a music player. Just click on the play button.

Try to really get into the feel of the music. It's a sad song... I was almost into tears. So beautiful.

And now this is another song I recently found. It is actually the last Nocturne piece by Chopin before he died. Let me quote this from chopinproject.com:

Chopin Project Artistic Director Arthur
Greene
calls Chopin’s last nocturne a curious, but moving, work:

“It is rarely played. Its absolute simplicity of texture may lead
performers to experiment with ornamentation, but I believe that it is an
expression of Chopin’s new direction, in the difficult few years at the end of
his life, towards a directness and purity of expression. The
Polonaise-Fantasy has somewhat the same mood, although it is much more
elaborate. The little nocturne is a tragic whisper.”

To listen, click this link http://chopinproject.com/2008/08/27/nocturne-in-c-minor-kk-1233-5-1847-chopins-last-nocturne/

Might be hard for some people to like listening to classical music. But yeah for me it's just ... whew. Every song's a experience.

vina is so damn happy

HELOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~~~~

I sound so hyper. Because I am at the peak of happiness~~~~~

Some of you may already know my semester 1 results which is, if you fail to understand the above diagram, all Distinction except one which has yet to come out. When I knew that, I was okay-happy.

BUT TODAY! Today I went to get my folio from Elvina's house and inside these folios there are all the result sheets for every project I did. And I (unexpectedly) got so many High Distinctions!!! Aaaaa! I am so happy! HAPPY!!!!

Do I sound like I'm boasting to you (which I actually am not)? Meh, don't care. Point is I feel so... ^_________^

Susan knows I'm an ambitious person and so, like in Sims 3, things like these gets me very ecstatic.

I'm so happy... feel like flying to the sky.

And on my "Metamorphosis Flipbook" project result page, which is part of Illustration class, I got this comment:

This book is very well presented
Congratulations!!
You are good at drawing and illustration
We hope that you consider doing the illustration elective in the future
Ohhh *faints*. So happy... I never thought about taking that elective to be honest because I've seen with my own eyes so many people who can draw so so much better than me. Even amongst my classmates there are so many...
But I think my lecturer likes my "characterization" and "storyboards" more than my drawing because on my "General Drawing" result sheet, I got High Distinction for "characters and story boarding" while for my "developing drawing skills/appropriate drawing skills" I only got a Pass... Is that horrible or what =.=;;;

About my overall results I think many classmates earned higher score than I did but with all honesty I am satisfied!!!

And on the way back from Elvina's house, Angel, Shelly and I walked through cold harsh wind and even had to run to catch the tram which we finally missed by a few seconds (and I got laugh at and pointed at my face by a little boy behind the tram window). But it did not matter to me. Joy was making my feet light.
Even from the train station back to the house, it started to rain like mad and I had to carry an A2 folio, plus a heavy bag filled with A4 folios and another bag in which I carry my stuff, AND my umbrella. But did I mind? No. In fact I walked home singing "Raindrops falling on my head".
Vina has been happy. Vina has been very happy.
Hopefully for the second semester I can do as well or even better. However that is quite unlikely since... the workload is just...omg. But we'll see how it goes... Come on Vina, stop being lazy!!! Holiday is over!!!
Fact: Did you know my lecturer said that if we could go through 2nd semester, we could go through the next 2.5 years?
It only proves how insane the workload currently is. Or maybe I'm just not yet used to it...
Don't worry be happy! :) :) :)

PS: Mobile blog is working once again! Be sure to keep an eye out for it

Neighborhood Friendly

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

I am happy today! ^_^

Actually I was happy yesterday too but only at night thanks to the website kak Bern gave me. So I reached home today and Listy asked me if I wanted to take a walk around the neighborhood so I agreed since the weather today is so good. Winter's not as cold as it sounds! I only wore a lace short sleeved top plus a coat over it and it was warm.

The changing of season is quite intriguing to me. Suddenly you see all these new flowers that's never been there before!

How I love this grand bush:

Aaaah I love flowers. Simply love them. They make me happy =w=

And there was this once I was taking a picture of a sign in front of someone's house, and suddenly a big man comes out and shouted at us (well, more like at me, since I was the one snapping on the camera): WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!??
I just very swiftly and calmly said "nothing" and walked away. I do that all the time, and then feel all panicky a few minutes after. Yeah I'm quite weird. THE MAN WAS SO FRIKIN SCARY!!! Eeeek T_T It's like I'm only taking a photograph what's there to be so defensive about?? Maybe he has some sort of criminal record...

You see that plant there? Take a guess, do you think it's smooth or rough?

Anybody can tell it looks very rough and sharp even. But for some reason, on the way back home, I let my hands slide through that bush, and... I was extremely shocked!!! It was sooooooo soft!! Like touching Gucci and Polo!

Wow I was completely astounded. Then after that epic incident I started touching all the things we passed and feeling all the different leaves and petals. Quite interesting. Something you all can try.

Semester 2 - DAY 1 -

Monday, July 20, 2009

Today is the first day of semester 2 and as you can see from the left hand side under 'projects', ....there is a frikin lot to be done. And it's the first day.
Bah, first day whatever. There is no leisure and luxury of a 'first day' in uni unlike back in primary school. A bunch of paper filled with words regarding our project brief was thrown at us. Merciless, I say... cold-blooded merciless T.T sob.
And though it's winter, it's not as cold as I thought it would be. Wow my NEXT coat sure is great! It's not even as cold as walking in Auttumn! Amazing how a coat makes such difference.
Gonna be learning typography...ughhh...so not looking forward to it, though I'm kind of curious what is it about it that makes people actually go "I LOVE TYPOGRAPHY!" ... ... well maybe I would find out... then I'll tell you all about it and maybe even write in huge fonts "I LOVE TYPOGRAPHY!!!!!!!!".
I only have 2 projects for Blair's class this semester!!! Yes!!! And they're all quite fun - publications and web design. I always enjoy Blair's projects (for example the movie poster last semester).

I never knew it but I'm back to Loneliness

Sunday, July 19, 2009

I am back in Melbourne.

The transit at Changi Airport was quite crazy because our plane from JKT to SNG was delayed by 40mins but the plane from SNG to MEL was not. And me and my bro had to run from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 and to our gate. We kept running and when we reached the skytrain station, I was practically that close to fainting. My breath came out in short irregular gasps and I was kind of tearing up. My knees were weak.

Kind ol' brother helped me carry my laptop and offered to take all my bags but I didn't let him. We were both sweating head to toe when we reached the gate. It was already closing. Anyway it was such a horrible experience. This is the second time in my life that thing irregular breathing thing happen to me. First was years ago when we had a P.E test and I had to keep going through the trials without any rest. I remember the P.E teacher set me on a chair after that on the 4th floor and Ms Vanda saw me, asked what happened, and said I'd be fine. I just hung my head low and by then I was already breathing normally.

Anyway. What a tiring way to Melbourne. And I reached here to the winter cold I hate. I slept till 2:00pm. The electric blanket made it too hot, but when I switched it off it became too cold. The pillow was too low and my whole body ached after that long nap.

Now here I am slowly unpacking. I miss home already. Here there is no jumping Gucci and Polo who welcomes me at the front door always. And no family and close friends. Dark cold boring and loveless. I don't feel like studying at all. Education suddenly feels like... something I don't need. Of course that would not do, but I'm just not motivated.

I seem to get more emo in Melbourne. No wonder I blog once I get here and never did when I was in Indo. Anyway...ahh I don't know what to do. I feel like those rich men who live in a big house filled with luxurious things but empty of simple goodness.

Departures = swollen eyes

Watched that movie just now. It's Japanese. And it's very.good.

I couldn't stop crying starting the middle of the movie where things got really dramatic. This picture below REALLY underestimates the amount I cried...

It's so good! Great movie! Better than One Litre of Tears!!! Kyaa kyaa~ You guys should watch it. Appreciate life and death a bit more.
