Ohmygod I'm so tired today... Monday blues monday blues...
Alright I can cross one thing off my wishlist now! Yay! I've attended my very first (official) orchestra performance! =D
It all happened one day a week ago. I was telling my Dad about a vision of myself in Melbourne attending an orchestra performance wearing a black winter coat and boots and... Yeah, so I was yearning to watch it. And later in the night, Sammy asked me if I wanted to watch Twilite Youth Orchestra!
Wow. I agreed of course. Orchestra...!
So after a week of anticipation, Sunday arrived. Our beloved, kind, generous friend Chu actually offered Susan and I a ride to the place. Thanks a lot buddy!
Alas, after about 45 minutes of car ride, we... were still not there. Apparently we went the wrong way... Well, fortunately the actual place wasn't too far away, and we reached there in... well, half an hour, but still. Anyway here it is:

The first familiar face we saw was Vika. Shock. I didn't expect to see him there. Actually, I didn't expect to see familiar faces at all! Well... I was wrong... But before I get to that, let's start of from the beginning first.
So I called Ken, whom I had expected to be there first since his house is very close... But... him, Albert and Sammy were still in his house... Shock. Well, we bought the tickets first for 50thou. We also got the paper thing with the song list and the performers' names. It took me several minutes looking for a long name like "Gratinius Putra Data", which is Wesley's last name. But I couldn't find it. Then Susan or Chu pointed out his name... which was typed as a simple "Weasley"... Poor poor guy.
Then, since I planned to blog about this event, we took pictures!
Damnit. Stupid blurred camera.
Later the guys came:
... which was unexpectedly FAST. Like only 5 minutes... And notice... that there are two people wearing the same outfit. Ahaha soul mates. I mean even the white t-shirt inside is the same.
We went in the hall just in time. Our seats were somewhere in the front. There I saw Keyzia, who was my junior in BBS. Didn't expect to see her.
I know cameras aren't allowed but I took this photo before the performance so it's okay.
The first song was pretty good. Since I had spent my previous days watching Nodame Cantabile live action drama, I knew what to look out for. I focused more on the concert master, who is the violinist at the front left. I also observed the conductor, Budi Utomo Prabowo.... which is something I would never bother to do if I didn't watch Nodame Cantabile. I now understand the role of the conductor. Often, I would just look at him, towering over all the other players, waving his white wand ever so gracefully. And every gesture seemed to bring the music alive, and... I would describe in more details, I would. About how the light shone and how beautiful the instruments looked in it. But this paragraph is fatty as it is so let's leave it at that.
The soloist was an 11-year-old cello player called Harry Gilfillan. Well I guess he is good... But don't know, I wasn't THAT impressed. It was just like oh okay cool. Maybe it's cause I've seen too many little kids below 10 years old being musical prodigies on youtube.
After the Cello Concerto, we had a 20-minutes intermission, which we all spent just sitting down, looking back to search for Dr Santosa in the crowd of people. Yes, Dr San was there. The lady who sat down next to me said so when I told her I went to school in BBS. I also saw for the first time, Ms Lydia's new boyfriend. He really looked like Try!
And then check out this picture...
Look at the tailpiece of the contrabass/double bass (don't know what it's called) on the right. There is an 'orange' thing stuck beneath it no? Well, we had a long long argument about it... Although yes I admit in this picture it looks orange-y, in real life, I can swear it is PALE CORAL RED.
Or, as in this visual, it would be classified as the colour 'Dream Sicle':

I seem to always have this argument with other people about colours. Often, I would be one to call them colour blind... Yesterday, everybody agreed the thing was orange in colour. And Sam called ME colour-blind. However, that is not possible since girls cannot be colour-blind. Guys only. Chu even suspected my blue contacts had an effect on my colour judgement. Well... I don't think that is the case. No matter how I look at it, IT IS NOT ORANGE.
People tend to simplify colours, which is something I never and cannot do... There is just so much more than primary colours:

Let's take the sky for example. Would you call it BLUE??? How can the sky ever be JUST blue. Look at the picture above, that is blue. And do we ever see the sky in that solid blue colour? No we don't. Now let's have an example of the different tones of a single "blue" colour:

Susan thinks that no matter what, I am only adding extra adjectives for instance "metallic ashen brown" is the colour of the bass's neck when it catches the light.... Sam thinks it's just brown. How can it just be brown.
I know what you're thinking, I'm making such a big fuss over small things. But I don't get it either why these ignorance to different colour tones gets on my nerves... For example, does this sound accurate?
There is an orange tank top on the green table.

=.=
There is a pale coral red tank top on the seafoam green table... I would say that...
I googled, and this is what is classified to be true orange:

I don't think it resembles the colour of the tank top.
Well, the point is, it's just this personal feeling I have about specifications of colours. Just giving opinion.
....
...
...
Yeah anyway. Back to the concert.
After the intermission, the songs became REALLY good. To be honest, I was getting a tad bit bored during the Cello Concerto. Whoops don't kill me. But after the 20-minutes-break, everything was just... AWESOME.
I loved The Tame Bear and Wild Bears from Wand of Youth Suite No.2 by Edward Elgar. Very impressed by the ending of Wild Bears.
And after that!!! PEER GYNT, SUITE NO.1 BY EDVARD GRIEG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ohmygod if that isn't one of my absolute favourite... Morning Mood is like... the one song I was anticipating so much for.
I forgot to mention - the small cellist, Harry, played a solo for his last song. I was surprised because I actually played that song on my violin in the morning before the concert! It's in my Suzuki Violin Method Vol.3 book, called Gavotte in D Major by J.S. Bach.
Okay back to Morning Mood. So when the song had just started, I was dying to just squeal and be an annoying little brat in an orchestra performance. But of course I kept it down and just smiled ever so excitedly to Susan who was beside me. Throughout the song, I constantly smiled to the music... I watched the conductor flow, and the bows of the violins seemed to follow suit, like this really calming wave... The flute was also really awesome; good job Weasley!
Unfortunately the song had to end. Alas! The other songs from Peer Gynt were also AWESOME. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, especially during the last song, In the Hall of the Mountain King. I was like... omg. Totally amazed. Stunned. Also, in the song Death of Ase, there were reeaaally silent moments, and I just literally held my breath. It was like if I breathed, something would go wrong. I thought about the possibility of me suddenly thinking of something funny and LOL-ing, but I immediately got rid of the thought in case I remembered a hilarious joke. It would be so embarassing...
After the concert, I met Stacia! Didn't expect her either. And later I found out that Amanda plays in Twilite too! Whew. And look who I met:

Ah yes.
So we all waited for the performers to come out. Wanted to give a hollywood celebrity papparazi greeting. I was ready with my camera:

Miss Amanda!
And Weasley!
Only after that, did I realise that our friend from BBS, Jeremy (no, I won't say it's 'Jordy' again, Susan, I don't make the same confident mistake twice) was also part of Twilite Youth.
Jeremy, Susan, Amanda, Stacia, Vina (whoo damn I look tall here), Sammy, Wesley, Ken, Chu, Albert
Thank you Gaby for the picture =D
Okay my hands are tired from typing this post. Damn long. Anyways after approximately 20mins of just chatting around, we went home. Susan and I went to Chu's house where we would be picked up by my parents. On the car ride home, the three of us had a little bonding time =)
I realised I haven't been in good contact with them. Who can blame me? They're always going out when I can't. Blame Uniprep for dismissing me so late (hey who am I to complain, don't want to get kicked by Science students). Anyway aaah I want to spend more time with you guys before I actually leave to Melbourne, which is not too far from now. In fact, Uniprep is ending in approximately 3 weeks, excluding the December holiday, which is not that long anyway.
And here is a little gift from dear Shar who just came back from Singapore woot woot:

If you read my older posts, I once mentioned I would like one of those bear thingies... Well, according to the box, it's called a Birthday Mouse. But I think it still looks more like a bear... wait... okay nvm, a mouse it is.
You can't really see it since I took this picture from the mirror, but "SEP" for September is printed on one ear, and 25, which is my birthdate, is on its faceless head. Also, the box containing gifts for me and my brother is super duper CUTE:

I am so keeping it!!! Thanks again Shar~

Owee~ Chu says I resemble a fish here. Kay whatever you Shaun-minded-person.
