Painting on a snowy day

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

I painted that just now. It's inspired by a photo of Mariko Shinoda, but I changed the face and some details.

Instead of my project research, I've been spending time doing things like this...........

I thought carefully about the reason why I'm always inclined to paint women in swimsuits or little clothing. I've come up with a couple of valid reasons I've never consciously been aware of:

1. I don't like painting clothes so a bikini has significantly less material to paint

2. I've only ever been interested in painting the face and skin so having to paint clothes and other things just distract me from the main purpose for painting.

By the way, it snowed today for the first time (a proper snowing) in London!

It's my first time experiencing a country's first snowfall.

I really don't feel like doing any work. I have no appetite and yet cannot stop eating what's in front of me. I get instances of depression and/or anxiety. Often feel anti-social. I hope these gloomy days pass by soon...

The Month of April

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Happy April everyone!

My dad happens to be a fan of my blog lol and he was complaining about how I never blog in Jakarta (when I have nothing to do) and I blog a lot in Melbourne (when I had a ton of work). So... I decided to blog today. Just to keep record of things.

Above is my most recent digital painting of a character I name "Misato". I don't know why but I like her in low resolution :-p In any case, I think she's quite a babe.

Today I decided to buy myself new lenses since I've run out. I never considered buying lenses online ever... but I'm really bored of the typical color lenses in local stores. And then I saw this and completely fell in love:

Neo Vision Queen Honey

It looks fabulouussss *-*
And I like how the rim is not bold like usual circle lenses. This one has a fading effect that looks really natural and soft. The enlargening effect is not too dramatic and fake either, which is great. I'm trying to get it online from a certain store but payment's not getting through at the moment... Anyway will resolve that.

Also, Neo Vision is one of the trusted contact lens brands in South Korea. So it's stylish and safe ^^ I'm excited to try it on!

Gucci and Polo are healthy and extremely clingy to me...

I have been feeding them fresh diet of red rice, boiled skinless chicken breast, cucumber, eggs, olive oil and carrots. They look forward to mealtime so much now. In the Kibble Past, Polo would often leave his food untouched and have no appetite. But now he never has leftovers in his bowl anymore.

They're both more disciplined and well-behaved too ^^ thanks to what I learned from Dog Whisperer~

My boyfriend is coming home early next month and he will be here for 4 months! I'm suuuuper excited and happy ^_^ ~

Hello darling readers!

I was in an artsy mood today and so decided to sharpen my long-blunt digital painting skills. Starting the paintings were hardest because I'm afraid I can't finish it, as I have dropped many paintings halfway because they were too difficult to execute.

I wonder when I started becoming like this, doubting my abilities all the time. I used to be quite a confident person... Maybe the world just changed too quickly for me, suddenly it's 'work', not 'projects'. Now you're getting paid, not graded.

When I was much younger, maybe 7-8 years old, I was always too afraid to order my own food. I lived in Singapore then, so it was common for kids to order their own food at food courts (and school canteens). I always asked my brother to order it for me, because I was scared of the furious-looking, always-yelling, 'food-court-aunties'. They spoke so fast, I often felt like I was making them impatient. And their hands moved so quickly, I was always self-conscious about the sloppy way in which I took out my money and counted them (slowly).

Though I've improved a lot down the years, I still have slight problems with 'the sloppy way in which I took out my money and counted them (slowly)'... That's why I confess that I have a small fear of people who work/move/talk too damn fast. My brain is too slow maybe? I always need some quiet time to think about most things. To compare them and me, they are like computers/robots, and I am... an abacus. Or fingers.

I am too comfortable being in my own world. And as I get older year by year, the real world seems to barge into the unsuspicious open windows in my 'comfort' world. Sad :( so this is how peter pan feels like, not wanting to grow up!

Sesame Hands

Sunday, October 17, 2010

Hello dears.

Painted this yesterday and today when I decided to screw the essay on analysing the assumption that remediation is an improvement of one medium on another referring to specific examples in the context of digitisation of print technology. Actually, surprisingly, I enjoyed writing the essay. It was almost like blogging, but in a more academic language with the need to unpack and explain every single key term and concept explicitly so that a mere child who has never learnt the subject could understand it.

So yeah! Digital painting is a nice way to take a break from that. My time management schedule for this semester's final folio submission is actually not too hectic (I swear this is the first time for that to happen). My parents are arriving at Melbourne tomorrow, Halloween costume party is on my way, hours of KBOX with my girls, and Serah Farron cosplay photoshoot. I'm excited! October will end just nicely.

I've been cooking everything with sesame oil lately and therefore the name of this post.
