"Earlier this month, Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks got sued for allegedly lifting the plot of 2007's Disturbia from Rear Window. It won't help their case that Eagle Eye (DreamWorks), the latest collaboration between executive producer Spielberg, star Shia LaBeouf, and director D.J. Caruso, borrows its innocent-man-on-the-run premise from North by Northwest—there's even a scene where, as in Hitchcock's crop-duster sequence, the protagonist gets attacked by faceless adversaries in an open field in the middle of the day.
...
That prospect doesn't last very long. Spielberg and Caruso forgot to include Phone Booth in their list of movies to rip off—the key to that 2003 thriller is that the man behind the demented voice isn't revealed until the final moments. "
source: http://www.slate.com/Alright back to 007. In a nutshell, I AM PLEASED with this movie. The action scenes leave me breathless. Very exciting and thrilling. If you are in an action-movie-trauma like I am, watch this. It's a cure.
Oh and this movie made me realise one aspiration for the future: own a luxurious car. Yes I will do it.
And, I finally bought this:
It's uh... I can't remember the precise name of it, but it goes somewhere along the lines of 'Nail Shine' from Body Shop. Susan recommended it to me, actually, and she used it on my nails. But the shine has started to fade away, and so now I bought one for myself.
This one has 3 sides. There are those with 2 sides, and 4 sides. Let me explain how to use it. First, use the black coloured side, then the grey (the one beside it), and finally, use the green one, which is the biggest portion:
The finished product:
Aah isn't it beautiful? It looks like I put on some nail polish or nail shine, but I didn't do anything of the sort. And my nails are now glossy and very nice to touch. Thank you Susan!
So after all that, I went back home. Then at around 10:15pm, left to Puri Mall again to catch Twilight.
Well, many people know I absolutely detest the book. But! The movie was actually pretty okay! In fact, it was so much better than the book. I don't know for sure how that is possible since it usually isn't the case, but here is a slideshow called :
Warning spoiler alert in the slideshow, and in the following paragraphs
'28 Reasons That 'Twilight' the Movie is Better Than 'Twilight' the Book'I think the absolute main reason why the movie is better than the book is, well, it's not too elongated with cheesy, repeated lines, scenes, and Edward is not brooding 24/7. There is pleasant humour which I enjoyed in the movie (the graduation hats are hilarious), and I think the additional scenes are really great (such as Edward taking Bella up the tree. Wow, great scenery. Also, pepper spray from Daddy?).
Many Edward Cullen fans probably complain about Robert Pattinson not living up to their imagination. By the way, I think his Dad his hotter, if only without that too obviously fake make-up which didn't cover up the bottom of his eyelid. Speaking of the ugly and the beautiful, Rosalie is so damn ugly in the movie!!! Omg. Isn't she supposed to be some elegant beauty queen as described in the book? Alice also looks weird. The only cast which suits the character is probably, in my opinion, only Bella Swan. I love her Dad, by the way. Funny guy.
So yeah. Movie is better than book for me. More fast-paced, less brooding, less overly cheesy romantic lines. It cured my utterly negative impression of Twilight. Meyer still has a long way to go I say.
Spoiler ends here.
Finished the movie at around 1:00am. Slept at 2:00am. Then I had this really...weird dream...
In my dreams, I was, starting out, as I remember, stuck on an island. I had to find a way back to Indonesia. My plan was to go to Singapore, where my parents would pick me up at the airport and bring me back. I only had so little money left. I couldn't waste a dime. I remember it was night. Ratna and I had on backpacks, and we prepared ourselves by wearing those headlights banded around your head. In front of us, was the dark swamp, close to the ocean. We proceeded into the water.
At times, I dipped my head down into the water, just to make sure there were no foreign aquatic creatures. Water is not my best habitat. Once or twice, Ratna shouted to warn me from shark attacks. Over nights and days, we just walked on, never feeling tired nor hungry. Sometimes, we climbed up the waterbank to proceed on land. Mostly, we were waist-deep in murky water.
Finally, we reached a small island, Nauru*. There, Ratna and I separated ways. I went to the small airport, furnished by old, flimsy wooden planks nailed together. It was my first time buying my own ticket. I asked the old lady about the tickets, and finally bought one. I kept it safe in my pocket.
Afterwards, I rested in a white caravan. I bought sandwiches for lunch. A little girl approached me. She was holding a bunch of flowers. Tiny, round flowers, I remember in purple, white, and yellow. She asked me if I would like one. I didn't have much on me, but I gave the girl a dollar, and she gave me the palm-sized purple flower, which resembled a premature lavender. She left, happy.
I continued with my lunch, when, all of a sudden, from the mines across the caravan, there was a loud rumbling, followed with a gigantic mushroom-shaped explosion. I panicked, and started packing my things. It took me a while. Then I escaped by car.
In Singapore, I was deciding, with Ratna which motel we would stay in for the night. They were all in shambles, dirty, concrete. I hardly minded. Beggars can't be choosers. For lunch, we met a couple of friends, and went for Shabu Shabu. In attempt to save money, I only ordered a plate of tofu. Ratna, however, ordered a whole set of extravagant food. I was surprised. I tried reminding Ratna that we were on a budget, but she shrugged it off.
...Weird dream isn't it? The longest part was when we were venturing through the swamps, and when the little girl sold me the flowers. I remember it clearly.
*In my long essay for English, I wrote about Nauru. So that is most likely why it appeared in my dreams. Note that the location doesn't particularly make sense.
Well, I woke up then.Went down, and apparantly my Mom and Dad are watching The Omen (2006), which has been in my DVD rack for ages but remain untouched.
I watched the older version back in primary school. So even though I didn't remember everything, the whole movie is basically almost the same. At the last scene, though, when Robert was supposed to (spoiler) kill a screaming and kicking Damien but failed to since the police shot him,... (spoiler ends) Whew. This wave of adrenaline violence came over me.
(Warning: visually/imaginatively violent content) I HATE THAT DAMN KID SO MUCH!!! I seriously just wanted to...to... pinch his soft childish little skin with a pair of scissors, claw out his eyeballs, skewer up his nose hole, and rip off all the hair on his puny evil little head.
Then I shall make him look like these Chucky dolls:
DIIIEEE DAMIEN JUST DIIIEEEE!!!!
Poor Robert and Kate T_T
(end of visual/imaginative violence)

The world of vampire romance was so overwhelming. I dreamt as a little girl that maybe I would one day meet a vampire too. Vampires - pale, skinny, black-haired, intense eyes, mysterious - they are assets that are so attractive to me, and yes, I am a freak for vamps.
So when all of my friends started raving about this certain book by Stephenie Meyer called "Twilight", I was curious. They were so obsessed with this thick volume, and they insisted I read it too.
Yesterday, I finally borrowed the book from Susan. Well, I'm done with the book by now, it took me slightly less than 10 hours to finish it, and let me just say, though I might get hate letters for this, that Twilight is
SO OVERRATED.
Yes sure, Edward Cullen sounds hot. But that's just what this book is about. Orbiting about how physically appealing the Cullens are, and how Edward and Isabella whisper lines of "I want to be with you forever", and "don't leave me", or "stay by my side" over and over again throughout 498-pages.
It was so easy for them to be obsessed about each other, there wasn't any interesting challenge in it. I barely see any mystery or twist of plot. Yes indeed, what I mean is Edward Cullen is not very mysterious for a vampire.
This book is so... SO predictable. I knew everything that was going to happen before I even reached the part. I knew that in the end, Bella will for sure be bitten by Edward. Too obvious. I knew also, when I read the part about the Cullens not preying on humans, that in the middle of the story, there is sure to come a clan of human-devouring-vampires, that will want to have Bella for themselves, which will lead her to be severely injured and saved by Edward in the last minute.
Such a predictable plot. Later on in the series, I bet there would come another guy who is attracted to Bella and he will be a strong rival. I'm sure there will also be a part where Edward will have to leave Bella but come back for her eventually. Oh and what about a scene where Edward will face a close-to-death experience and Bella would cry her eyes out? Maybe there will also be a part where Bella suddenly unleashes her vampiric powers.
I don't know, they are just assumptions I made up.
How are they? Are they right? :) Come on, you can tell me.
And by the way, in case you're wondering, no, I have not read the rest of the series. If I do, I hope it gets better.
Back in the days when I read online vampire stories, there were so many of them, and they all sounded pretty similar. A human girl. A vampire guy. Love. Vampire guy tries his best not to hurt the girl. He saves her every single damn time she gets into trouble. The stories have worn old for me, I have heard a lot along that line. So Twilight? It is just like those stories I read. AND another minus point of it, is that I absolutely dislike Stephenie Meyer's writing style. Oh and there are just too much elongated, unnecessary scenes that take up 20 pages of the book when it holds no importance at all and could have been condensed into merely 5 pages.
I really don't want to offend Twilight fans (and I know there are many), but really though, in my honest opinion, this book doesn't deserve all the publicity it's getting. Maybe if the writing style is improved, the ideas more imaginative, the story more twisted, I may grow to like it. But not at it's current state, no. I mean... isn't it just painful to read 500 pages of a story you can already imagine before even reading the book? It's like that for me, and it's poorly written.
I also allowed myself to watch the trailer now that I am done with the first volume.
Uh oh. This reminds me of something. Narnia. I have no idea why it does. I never bothered reading the book, but I watched the first movie, and I ABSOLUTELY HATED IT. Oh god did I hate it to the point of shredding away my movie ticket and burning it into ashes. It... oh this is bad... I'm going to get soooo many haters after this post. Yes, I was mortified by the movie, more specifically, the ACTING of the casts. Horrible. Horrible acting. Especially when that girl, what's her name, cried during Aslan's death scene.
"Aslan...! Aslan...!"
...I still remember it clearly, and it is the one scene I think about when somebody mentions "Narnia".
So anyway, back to Twilight. Well, from the trailer, I have a feeling I will be disappointed with the movie... Not that I am expecting anything in the first place, but I just have a feeling that the acting won't be good, and the scenes would be all too cheesy. You know, Twilight is cheesy. Yes it is.
Well, I better stop now before I create a larger fire amongst the fans. Please vote in the poll here, I want to know what you guys think. For people who've read Twilight only please.
Oh and one more thing: do buy the book Dead Until Dark if you come across it. It's better.
